Why am I left with a sticky finish?

There are several reasons why oil doesn't dry on wood

  • You might be applying too much oil on wood.
  • Oil does not dry on wood because wood is a porous material and oil does not react chemically with it. Wood absorbs oil, and it does not evaporate or cure like paint or varnish.
  • Additionally, wood has a natural tendency to absorb moisture, which can also prevent oil from drying.
